Kathizo

Luke 5:1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, 2 and saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets. 3 Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He csat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.

As the master teacher, Jesus frequently "sat" as he taught the people. The Greek word for sit/sat is "Kathizo". The teaching lessons shared here from our weekly Bible Study are ministered under the anointing of "Kathizo", to sit and teach!

  • Sitting was a traditional posture for teaching in Jewish culture, signifying authority.
  • It allowed Jesus to engage more intimately with his audience, fostering connection.
  • Sitting down indicated a formal teaching moment, drawing attention to his message.
  • It provided a comfortable position for longer discussions, encouraging deeper learning.
  • Jesus often taught outdoors, and sitting helped him be more visible to larger crowds.
  • This posture symbolized humility, as he positioned himself among the people rather than above them.
